Serving Our Community

Community Service Opportunities

Christ Our Savior plays a vital role in the community by providing spiritual guidance, fostering social support, and engaging in

charitable activities that address both spiritual and physical needs. In addition to the Ministries described below we hold many activities during the year that serve the communities that we live in.

These include

  • Concerts and music recitals
  • Sing-along visits to local nursing homes
  • Angel tree gifts for children in need at Christmas

Heaven Scent

Heaven Scent

The Heaven Scent Ministry makes 18” square flannel blankets for premature babies. The mother first places the blanket next to her body to pick up her scent.  The blanket is then placed under the baby in Natal Intensive Care Unit and mother and baby now have a bonding.   Our Christ Our Savior ladies cut, sew, iron, and package the blankets (two per baby) and supply them to our local Children’s Hospital

Social Concerns

Social Concerns

Our Social Concerns Ministry is in contact with three agencies in our area that focus on supplying food, personal care product and clothing and support to those in need. They organize supply drives within our church and advise our members of volunteer opportunities and coordinate financial support from our congregation.

Buddy Break

Buddy Break

Our Buddy Break Ministry is part of Nathaniel’s Hope which is dedicated to sharing hope with kids with special needs (VIP kids) and their families.

This includes:

  • Bringing hope and resources of encouragement to VIP kids and their families
  • Providing practical assistance by offering free respite care for VIP kids
  • Educating the community on how to be a Buddy to VIP kids and their families
  • Equipping the community, especially churches, with opportunities, tools, training, and resources to reach out to VIP kids and their families
  • Extending hope to VIP kids overseas
  • Sharing hope with grieving families

Friendship Kitchen

Friendship Kitchen

Friendship Kitchen is just completing its third year serving the people of Loudon County. We have served between 70 and 75 meals every other month to handicap or otherwise fragile lives.  We have a great staff of between 8 and 10 who help prepare meals, pack Styrofoam clamshells and pack coolers for the drivers. We have about the same number who drive the meals to the welcoming hands to the recipients of our ministry.
