On the 2nd Friday each month (Dec. 8th), we meet for lunch at noon at Lorenzo’s Restaurant and then play Hand & Foot at 1:00 p.m. You are welcome to join us—even if you don’t know how to play! Hand & Foot is a fun and easy-to-learn game. Instructions and friendly help will be given. Please join us for an afternoon of fun and fellowship on the second Friday of the month.
In 2017, The Gathering (our Wednesday evening fellowship meal and Bible Study) explored God’s story in the Old and New Testaments of the Bible. In 2018, The Gathering will focus on how this life- changing story affects the way we think, act and believe. If you are not already participating in The Gathering, I encourage you to give it a try and bring someone with you to enjoy good food, good fellow-ship and Good News. We have a meal that starts at 5:30. It is usually catered (once in a while we have a potluck) and costs between $5-8. Our study time goes from 6:00-7:00.
A trip to Kisima Academy is being planned for October 17-30. In addition to visiting the school we also visit the elephant orphanage and giraffe refuge in Nairobi, Kakamega Forest (the last tropical rainforest in Kenya), and Maasai Mara for a two-day safari. Please talk to Pastor Mark or Gerda Fink if you’d like to know more.
Please join us to hear Gospel Singing Group "Tribute" on Sunday. October 28, 2018 at 6:00 pm. Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door. To get tickets call the Church office at 865-458-9407 or Bob Traum at 865-458-4843.
Living here in East Tennessee, I hear this question a lot. Maybe you have as well..Another one is like it- -“What’s the difference between Lutherans and other Christians?” Or maybe you have wondered yourself, “What does it mean to be a Lutheran Christian?
Lutheranism 101 is a class designed to answer these and other questions. Each Sunday morning, beginning October 7, a brief overview of one of the basic tenets of the Christian faith will be shared during the Sunday School hour. We will meet in Room 103 of the Christian Ministry Center. Through a mixture of video, Bible, Luther’s Small Catechism, and small group discussion, participants will gain a better understanding and appreciation for the gift of salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ as it relates to our life together. Check the weekly calendar and church bulletins for the topic of the day. Since each week stands alone, you can attend whenever you like.
If you are new to the Lutheran Church, or just want a refresher in the faith, please join me and other like-minded pilgrims on this journey.
