  • What is a Lutheran?

Living here in East Tennessee, I hear this question a lot. Maybe you have as well..Another one is like it- -“What’s the difference between Lutherans and other Christians?” Or maybe you have wondered yourself, “What does it mean to be a Lutheran Christian?

Lutheranism 101 is a class designed to answer these and other questions. Each Sunday morning, beginning October 7, a brief overview of one of the basic tenets of the Christian faith will be shared during the Sunday School hour. We will meet in Room 103 of the Christian Ministry Center. Through a mixture of video, Bible, Luther’s Small Catechism, and small group discussion, participants will gain a better understanding and appreciation for the gift of salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ as it relates to our life together. Check the weekly calendar and church bulletins for the topic of the day. Since each week stands alone, you can attend whenever you like.

If you are new to the Lutheran Church, or just want a refresher in the faith, please join me and other like-minded pilgrims on this journey.

Volunteer Cooks Needed: We will be starting to cook the soups for the CAC Soup’s On event scheduled in January. Because the event is earlier this year (1/17/19) we are trying to get a head start. We need volunteer cooks on the following days in December: 12/4 from 8–4; 12/6 from 8–2; 12/7 from 8–4; and 12/11 from 8–4. There is a signup sheet on the bulletin board in the CMC lobby. You can work all day or any part that fits your schedule. Please help us support this good cause. Questions? Contact Cindy Brittingham or Kathy Schult
